Rehomers - the perfect matchmakers between dog or cat and owner
There are 14 full time Rehomers at Battersea and seven who work part time at the weekend. We need the extra help at weekends, as this is our busiest time. We can see up to 1,000 members of the public coming through our doors in one weekend so its all hands on deck!
Although Rehomers help in kennels, we are mainly responsible for finding new homes for the animals in our care. It is our job to interview members of the public to find out whether their circumstances are right to rehome a rescue dog. If all goes well on the interview it is equally important that we help the customer to find a dog or cat that is right for them.
Because there are so many dogs here at Battersea we have a unique computer-matching programme that helps us to identify which dogs would be better suited to an individual customers needs.
Many of the animals in our care have had a very unsettled past and it is up to us to make sure they get a permanent, secure, loving new home that is right for both dog and owner.
