Donating other Gifts

People donate more than just money to the Home and we are always very grateful to everyone who helps us with donating other gifts.

There are loads of things we can use, and some things we can't use, so before sending your donation in kind, please check out the list below.

We always need:

Dog toys - tough, durable, easily cleanable

Cat toys - ping pong balls; catnip toys

Bedding - quilts / duvets, cat beds

Blankets - big, sturdy woollen ones

Large knitted blankets without holes

Indoor dog pens

Cat baskets

Dog treats - especially rawhide

Dog coats, of the sturdy, manufactured kind

Dog leads, harnesses and 'gentle leaders'

Tupperware containers for keeping treats in

There are also some less obvious things we can use to keep the dogs and cats happy:

Mobiles and wind chimes for kennels

Stereos and radio cassette players for kennels

Training leads and behaviour products for the Rehab dogs

Hard plastic kids paddling pools for the summer

Hard plastic kids toys, like a Wendy House, for dogs to play in

Greyhound collars

Long lengths of climbing rope

Books on dogs and cats to further our staff's knowledge

We are always very grateful for every donation we receive, but unfortunately there are a few things that we can't use.

Dog or cat food - we feed all our residents a regular diet of premium food to keep them healthy - changing food can upset their stomachs. If you have dog or cat food to donate, please can we suggest that you take it to a smaller, local rescue centre who will be very grateful for it.

Newspapers - we do use newspapers in the kennels but we always have thousands of them!

Small knitted blankets - we can always use large blankets and knitted blankets, but we are over run with small ones at the moment.

Knitted dogs coats - we've got thousands of these at the moment, too

Small crocheted blankets - unfortunately, crocheted blankets are not suitable to be used in kennels as the holes are usually too big, allowing claws and paws to get stuck in them.

Old computer equipment, as it is not compatible with our computer system.

Things to remember:
