Special Appeals

As a registered charity there's always something special we need here at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Blankets

Here at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home we get through 1,000 blankets a day, keeping our dogs and cats warm and comfortable. We always need more blankets, especially during the winter months.

Ideally, we're looking for medium to large sized blankets but not sheets and towels as they are not as warm for dogs - and please don't send in duvets as the dogs rip them up and eat the contents!

All blankets will be gratefully received, so if you think you can help us, please send any donations to: Blankets, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, 4 Battersea Park Road, London, SW8 4AA or bring directly to the Home.

If you fancy having a go at knitting a large dog blanket, please email us for a knitting pattern and we'll send you one in the post.

Top dog?

Have you checked out our Top dogs section recently? There's a whole page of our website devoted to ex-Battersea and other dogs who have done something really special with their lives - becoming police dogs or assistance dogs - there's even one of our ex-residents helping to stamp out ivory poaching in Africa!

top dog cup<br /> We are convinced that there are loads of dogs out there with fantastic stories to tell, so we are appealing to everyone to tell us about them! All you need to do is email or send us details of what the dog does, or has done, to make him a 'top dog' and send us a picture, so we can feature him on the site.

Send your letters and pictures to the usual address, marked for the attention of our Communications Department or email us to see your hero up on our website!

It's playtime!

Can you imagine spending long hours in one place, with lots of lovely people looking after you but not a lot to do? It's not much fun being in kennels at the best of times and many of our dogs
get really bored, so we're appealing for toys to keep them amused!

The best toys for kennels are robust, rubber ones that can take a bit of a battering. We especially like using rubber Kongs, as not only are they dog-proof but they can also be stuffed with food, for added interest and stimulation. Toys are also useful for our rehabilitation team, to use in training exercises.

So, if you're visiting your pet shop and spot a robust, rubber toy or two, why not pop an extra one in your shopping basket and send it in to us?

Please send to: Battersea Dogs Home, 4 Battersea Park Road, London
