Sunshine is a 1-2 year old female who came into Battersea Dogs and Cats Home as a stray in August 2007. Sunshine has an effervescent, sprightly character and can be very responsive once she has built a bond with someone.Quirky and inquisitive, Sunshine will need similiar-minded owners who are looking for a companion as opposed to a docile lap dog. Sunshine has spent some time with the Behaviour Unit in order for us to investigate her interactions with other dogs and because she does get very stressed in her kennel environment.
Sunshine will need:
- Owners will need to have owned mature and confident females before.
- Experience of Staffordshire Bull Terriers would be an advantage as she does have some breed traits, however, it is not essential.
- Sunshine would be best suited to an adult-only household, although older teenagers with a mature attitude may be considered.
- Both single carer and multi carer households may be considered for Sunshine, but a new single owner would need to put in some work to prevent over-bonding.
- Sunshine is looking for a house or flat in a semi rural or rural location with a garden for training. This will be especially important while she is settling in to her new home.
- Access to exercise areas with low dog and people population will help owners work on all aspects of her basic training, such as recall.
- Sunshine is a strong, confident female who could possibly live with an easy-going, interactive male dog, but not another female. She loves to play with other dogs, but some dogs will find her enthusiasm and energy intimidating; owners will need to work on her control around dogs.
- Unfortunately Sunshine cannot live with cats.
- New owners will need to follow an ongoing training programme and be prepared to listen to and take advice from the Behaviour Unit.
