Sid is a 4 year old male Cocker Spaniel who has not yet been neutered. He arrived at the home in March 2007 from his previous owner, through no fault of his own. Sid was referred to the Behaviour Unit for his intolerance of formal handling, especially around the collar area and for potential food possession issues. He is a typical Spaniel, a vocal but happy boy with bags of personality.

Sid will need:

Owners will need to be realistic about what can be done to alter Sid's temperament and behaviour as he has a middle-aged dog mentality. Training will require consistency and patience. New owners will need to follow an ongoing training programme and be prepared to listen to and take advice from the Behaviour Unit. Sid is a friendly and affectionate chap once you've established a bond with him. He does have a few issues for owners to work through including formal handling and food possession tendencies. However he could be a loyal companion with a lot to offer the right owner. Sid is at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, London. Please call the Behaviour Unit on 02076277884 if you are interested in Sid, or email us on [email protected] and quote reference 2007/ 01398 Sid will need some further training in his new home. To receive advice and guidance regarding this training from the Behaviour Unit staff that have worked with him, potential owners should be prepared to come into the Dogs Home for a minimum of two visits.
