Scooby is a 2-3 year old, Large male, Great Dane cross who came to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in January 2007, as his owners did not have the time to care for him.
Scooby is a large boy who uses his size to intimidate people, this big strong boy who will need a large amount of outdoor space. He is definatly not one for the house proud as he is a 'bull in a china shop'.
He was seen by the Behaviour Unit to further investigate his over the top behaviours, he can become mouthy when excited and to futher investiage his behaviours with other dogs. Scooby is a robust boy who has an abundance of cracking qualities, needs owners that are prepared to spend time training him in order to bring out those positive characteristics and traits.
Scooby is looking for:
- Active, experienced owners who have a sound knowledge of owning male large breed before, and are willing to follow an ongoing training programme advised by the Behaviour Team at Battersea
- A large house in a semi rural or rural location with a large garden. The location must also have low dog populated exercise areas
- A home with no children due to his easily excitable and over the top nature, although older teenagers will be considered
- Minimal leaving hours initially so that time in which he is left alone can be built up gradually.
- A home with a single owner would be ok if they have good facilities and are able to gradually build up the time he is left alone
- Scooby could live a strong female large breed if good match.
- Owners will need to have quite a large amount of free time available to dedicate to his mental and physical stimulation as he will have no problems finding alternative ways of keeping himself amused when bored
