Poor Ruger was brought to Battersea by his owners as they were moving abroad, he is stressed in the kennel environment and really needs a new home to spend the rest of his days. Sadly due to his age many people just walk past but he is still very active and loves nothing more than playing with a ball or going for walks.
Ruger is a Norwegian Buhund, this breed is a member of the Spitz dog family and was bred to herd sheep and guard the farmland, essentially this is a working breed but at Rugers time of life he likes to take things at a slower pace, although the instinct to work will still be present so he may be prone to chasing other animals.
Ruger is very affectionate and loving once he knows you, he will make a gentle, fun and active addition once settled. Ideally Ruger needs owners with experience or knowledge of dog care and ownership. Unfortunately Ruger cannot live with another dog, cats or young children, teenagers would be considered.
Ruger is an intelligent boy but also has a stubborn side, he already knows some basic commands but has sadly never been let off the lead so owners will need to be prepared to work on a good recall if they are to let him off lead in a park. Due to this Ruger will need a garden so he can have an area to play and burn off some energy.
Ruger really is a gorgeous boy so if you feel you can offer him the home he needs please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443 or come in to one of our centres for a registration interview.
