Milo was brought in to Battersea as his owners could not cope with his energy levels, he is a highly energetic young dog and is not your average pet. The Patterdale Terrier was bred as a rat, fox and rabbit hunter, this breed was bred for it's working ability and the hunting instinct will still be strong in dogs bred today.
Milo is looking for experienced owners who have owned Terriers or rescue dogs before, he is not suitable for first time dog owners or for the less active home wanting a lapdog companion. This breed is not for the non-Terrier fan or the faint hearted, the Patterdale is robust, determined, tough and had an independent mind.
Milo is a highly intelligent and active dog, he will need outdoor loving owners prepared to provide the stimulation this breed needs. Milo would make an ideal hiking companion as he needs lots of exercise to keep him happy. Once he has some basic obedience under his belt he would also make an ideal agility or flyball dog.
Milo is a typical Terrier around other dogs, he is confident and a bit full on at times for some dogs so may get himself in trouble. Milo does get frustrated when kept on lead around other dogs, this will need some work and owners will need to keep him well socialised. Due to the amount of one to one work needed Milo cannot live with another dog.
Cannot live with children as too boisterous and will need a consistent and firm approach, adult household preferred but teenagers considered. Unknown if compatible to live with cats but due to breed and hunting instinct they are not normally social with non-canine animals. Milo ideally needs to live in a semi-rural or rural location to offer him plenty of open spaces to burn his energy off, not really a town dog.
Milo is not that used to car travel, he appears not to be travel sick. In his previous home Milo was not fully housetrained but was being left for long periods. Due to his age and high energy levels he cannot be left for long, if bored he may be destructive. In the right environment Milo will make a fantastic addition, he has so much potential and is extremley clever. Milo is not a boring dog and will keep you on your toes but needs Terrier loving owners.
