Lara is a four year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross that came to the home as a stray in June 2007.

She is not yet neutered as she will need to settle in to her new home first.

Lara is a fantastic, mature character who has proven to be very good with other dogs.

She was referred to the Behaviour Unit to allow us to further investigate attention-seeking and separation issues.

• Lara is looking for owners who have experience of large or bull breeds.
• Experience with mature female characters would be a great advantage and potential owners should have a good understanding and confidence with dogs in general
  
• Lara would like a consistent home environment so would not be suitable for a home with children. Older teens may be considered depending on experience and expectations
  
• Lara's new home will need a garden for training and exercise purposes and should be in a semi-rural or rural environment as Lara may initially be quite vocal when left alone
  
• Lara should not be left for long periods of time. Owners will need to gradually build up the amount of time she can be left
  
• Lara could live with a male dog. The dog would need to be quite laid-back due to Lara's high motivation for people's attention
  
• Lara is very receptive to training and new owners should be prepared to have time and patience continue her training and get the very best out of her potential
  
• Lara loves hands-on petting but owners need to be aware that a relaxed bond must be built with Lara before they start formal handling.
  

Lara is a very steady, gentle and affectionate character who really enjoys being with people.

This girl has a real presence about her that will make her a fantastic pet for her future owners.

Lara will need some further training in her new home. To receive advice and guidance regarding this training from the Behaviour Unit staff that have worked with her, potential owners should be prepared to come into the Dogs Home for a minimum of two visits.
