Blaze is a 1-2 year old, male Rhodesian Ridgeback cross who came to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in December 2005. A strong, playful, goofy young thing, Blaze is definitely not for the faint hearted! Larger than life and with a ton of energy, owners will need to keep Blaze mentally and physically stimulated whilst also being able promote calm behaviours. He's actually quite a soppy, affectionate boy once he calms down and gets to know you but he does become easily spooked when faced with people or situations he is unfamiliar with.
Owners must be dedicated to following a training programme provided by the Behaviour Unit to ensure that these behaviours are handled in the right way. Blaze is a great dog who will make a fantastic companion to owners that can keep up with him! Blaze is looking for:
- Owners that have experience with large breeds such as Mastiffs and Rhodesian Ridgebacks and experience of dealing with under-socialised dogs.
- A semi-rural environment, although experience is more important and a suburban location may be considered.
- A calm, adult household as Blaze can be boistrous at times and will need owners that are prepared to dedicate time to training.
- Could possibly live with an older female if a good match.
- Owners who have time are willing to follow an ongoing training programme.
