Alfie is a 1 year old, neutered male, Shih tzu cross who came to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in September 2006. Smart and resourceful, Alfie is an extremely clever little dog whose "naughtiness" is often overlooked because of his cute exterior. He spent time with the Behaviour Unit at Battersea to further investigate his possessive behaviours and this has been worked on by the team. Owners will need to be quick witted and one step ahead of this cheeky little man. Alfie is looking for:

• A home with owners who have had experience of participating in activities such as heelwork to music, flyball or agility and who have a strong interest in advanced training and mental stimulation


• Experienced owners of feisty, active Terrier types rather than small lap dogs. Owners must be prepared to follow an ongoing training programme advised by the Behaviour Unit at Battersea


• Active lifestyle with time to invest in giving the guidance that Alfie needs


• Alfie could live with another dog but they must be a good match.  A mature female would be preferred.


• A home with no kids due to his behaviours and training needed. Alfie will also try it on with any new people that he is introduced to so owners will need to show them the way in which to approach him and deal with situations

A mischievous, attention demanding, colourful character, Alfie will suit active, creative owners who relish a challenge. Alfie is at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.
