In general, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has seen an increase in the number of pure breed dogs requiring new homes.
Breed Rescue Co-ordinator Nicola Sewell keeps an eye on a number of pure breed dogs aswell as liasing with specific Breed Rescue organisations in order to find suitable homes for them. One breed in particular that has seen as increase in numbers is the Akita.
Akitas are magnificent dogs with a stunning appearance and unique character. They are large and strong and can have stubborn moments. As such, Akitas need particular homes with knowledegable owners who can accommodate and care for them appropriately.
As with every breed, the Akita's suitability to live with other dogs/children/cats etc will depend on the individual.
If you are looking to re-home a dog and feel you have what it takes to care for an Akita, please contact [email protected] - Breed Rescue Co-ordinator on 020 7627 9231
